"Opening DAWs" Exhibition of Artwork by The Unicorn School
This month The unicorn School presents "Opening DAWs", an exhibition of artwork, sculpture and descriptive works, in support of The British Dyslexia Association's Dyslexia Awareness Week (DAW).
The exhibition runs at Abingdon's prestigious County Hall Museum from Saturday 24th October to Sunday 1st November.
The exhibition explores dyslexia as both a closed door and an open door. Themes include Ideas of Self and Uniqueness, and how dyslexia impacts upon our perceptions of Self. The exhibition celebrates our pupils' creativity and explores some of the specialist learning techniques used at The Unicorn School. There is an extremely positive message: we are all unique, we all have our unique strengths as well as difficulties to overcome. When we see ourselves in terms of our strengths we can stop seeing ourselves in terms of our weaknesses... we can start to open doors.
The Unicorn School is a leading, specialist day school for pupils aged 6 years and up, who have dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, or who need support with Speech and Language. Our pupils are a vibrant collective with a wealth of talent and skills, we are thrillede at the opportunity to showcase their work and we hope that you will enjoy the exhibition.
