Secondary Education
Pupils from Year 7 to Year 11 form the secondary part of The Unicorn School. Year 7 & 8 form KS3 and Years 9 -11 are KS4.
In KS3 pupils continue to have daily 1:1 lessons with a specialist teacher alongside English, Maths, Science, History, Geography, Digital Skills, PSHE, RE, Art & PE. Many of these are taught by secondary subject specialists and the heads of English, Maths & Science oversee the curriculum.
In KS4 instead of their 1:1 lessons pupils now have 2 x 1 hour lessons of Study Skills taught by a team of specialist teachers. In addition in Year 9 pupils continue to study English, Maths, Science, Digital Skills, Duke of Edinburgh, PSHE, RE, Art, Film and PE.
Towards the end of Year 9 pupils choose their options for Year 10 & 11. All pupils continue to study towards a qualification in:
- English Language
- Maths
- Science
In addition, all pupils continue to have lessons in
- PSHE
- RE
- PE
- Study Skills
The option choices vary from year to year depending on the cohort of pupils. Currently the options are:
