Pupils study topics in addition to those covered in the GCSE Combined Science course. At the end of this course they achieve three separate awards: GCSE Biology, GCSE Chemistry, and GCSE Physics. Each GCSE is assessed at either foundation (grades 5-1) or higher tier (grades 9-4). For pupils wishing to take A level or Level 3 BTEC sciences this option is attractive because it provides a broader base of knowledge and understanding.

| How is this assessed? | Mock exams in December and again in March of Year 11 as practice before the real exams.
We will supply details of which topics are being covered in the mock exams. Public exams in May and June of Year 11. There are 6 exams: 2 for Biology GCSE, 2 for Chemistry GCSE, 2 for Physics GCSE. Each exam lasts 1 hour 45 minutes and is worth 100 marks. |

| Other useful notes | Triple science is made up of three separate GCSE courses.
Each subject is awarded as an individual GCSE and receives its own grade. The real exams take place at the same time as the Combined Science exams, but are longer. After mock exams, science teachers will help decide whether a student should be entered for Foundation or Higher Tier exams. |
