The Unicorn School has hosted evening seminars for parents of children at The Unicorn School and parents of children in the local community, demonstrating ways in which they can support their children’s literacy at home. 

Sessions are tailored for parents of either primary or secondary age children, and employ an innovative “carousel” format with parents rotating around 4 micro-workshops.

We have covered areas such as how to support children’s reading and spelling at home as well as their language and handwriting, using mind maps, developing higher order reading skills, using assistive technology, and supporting the learning of maths and science.
