New Headteacher for The Unicorn School

The Unicorn School is delighted to announce the appointment of Alison Woodworth Sturla as the new Headteacher. Mrs Woodworth Sturla brings a wealth of experience in specialist education and is set to join the school at a pivotal time of growth and development.

In her own words, Mrs Woodworth Sturla shared her enthusiasm for the new role: “I am very excited to join The Unicorn School at such a pivotal time, especially with the expansion of the provision to accommodate a greater number of students. I believe that my background in specialist education will allow me to support the growth and development of the school, while also contributing to the continued success of the excellent work already in place.”

Currently serving as the Deputy Headteacher at Alfriston School in Beaconsfield, a specialist SEN school for girls, Mrs Woodworth Sturla emerged as the top candidate from a strong field. She impressed the interview panel with her extensive SEN knowledge and enthusiasm for The Unicorn School. During a rigorous selection process, she adeptly answered challenging questions from Governors, members of the Senior Management Team, and even some very insightful questions from our students!

Mrs Woodworth Sturla is eager to become an integral part of the school community. She plans to visit during the spring term to spend time with staff, students, and parents in preparation for starting in post at the beginning of the summer term.

The Unicorn School looks forward to the positive impact Mrs Woodworth Sturla will bring and is excited about the future under her leadership.
