Ex-Unicorn School pupil Jamie Gordon will be cycling from Land’s End to John O'Groats this summer to raise funds for the school. Jamie, now aged 15, joined The Unicorn School in 2008. He is now preparing for his GCSE's and believes that his time at The Unicorn School gave him an essential foundation for his current studies.

"I have decided to use this opportunity to raise funds for The Unicorn School" says Jamie, "as a mark of appreciation of all the good work the teachers and school have done for me and to increase awareness for dyslexia".

Jamie will undertake the gruelling journey over 14 days in July and August 2016, he will lead a team of cyclists who will traverse the length of the country, cycling between 80-100 miles each day. Last week Jamie revisited The Unicorn School and explained his epic journey to our current pupils. Jamie shared a message of determination and perseverance, he is proud of his achievements both in the classroom and beyond and he showed our current Unicorns that a learning difficulty like dyslexia need not stop us from achieving our goals.

The Unicorn School celebrates its 25 year anniversary this year. In that time we have supported more than 500 pupils with specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dyspraxia and dyscalculia. As we enter our second quarter-century our next exciting development is the introduction of our GCSE programme, commencing this September. This will make us unique as Oxfordshire’s only dyslexia-specialist school to offer GCSE education.

We are proud of all of our pupils past and present and we are enormously grateful to Jamie and his quest to raise funds and awareness for our school. Jamie, you are an inspiration!
