Assessment overview
How is this assessed?

Exams are sat throughout the year during lessons.

They are externally set tests administered by Unicorn Science teachers.
There are no public exams at the end of Year 11.

Instead, exams are end‑of‑topic tests taken after lessons that include
guided revision.

There is no formal time limit for each exam, although they usually take
between half a lesson and a full lesson. Students have followed this
approach since starting the course in Year 9.

Other useful notes

Exams can be retaken after additional revision to improve scores.

Once all tests have been completed, they are submitted to the exam
board for moderation and the awarding of grades. Science and Further
Science are two separate qualifications.

The content covered also prepares students for Combined Science GCSE.

In some cases, we may recommend that a student studies Entry Level
Science rather than GCSE.
