The Unicorn School

A Specialist School supporting pupils with dyslexia and related learning difficulties

Creative Arts

Art, drama and music play an important role at
The Unicorn School.

The creative arts provide our pupils with the opportunity for self-expression and to excel.

Art is an area of strength at
The Unicorn School.  Our pupils’ artwork
is regularly displayed in the annual
Young Art Oxford exhibition at the prestigious Ashmolean Museum.  In 2016 we were extremely proud to have a Unicorn School pupil win the
YAO Ruskin School of Art Award.

Drama

In 2015 The Unicorn School presented "Opening DAWs", an exhibition of artwork, sculpture and descriptive works, in support of The British Dyslexia Association's Dyslexia Awareness Week (DAW). The exhibition ran at Abingdon's County Hall Museum and attracted 1,400 visitors.

Drama provides a stage for our pupils’ creative potential and exploring literature through performance can open up the joy of reading.

Music is an important part of our curriculum.  We take pupils from KS2 & KS3 to Young Voices at the Genting Arena in January each year.  Also our children have the opportunity to attend the schools concert of the Oxford Chamber Music Festival in the Autumn term.
