Alison Woodworth-Sturla joined The Unicorn School as Headteacher in April 2025. Prior to joining us at The Unicorn School, Alison was Deputy Headteacher at Alfriston School in Beaconsfield, a specialist school for girls with moderate learning difficulties and speech, language and communications needs.
Alison started her career as a PE teacher at Blessed George Napier Catholic School in Banbury. She is a passionate advocate for the power of sport and physical activity to enhance emotional and physical wellbeing, as well as to develop skills such as resilience, leadership and teamwork.
Alison has led a varied career, teaching in two mainstream secondary schools – Blessed George Napier Catholic School and Oxford Spires Academy, a prep school – St John’s Priory, and a charity (Youth Sport Trust).
Outside of work, Alison is an “unapologetic sports fan”. She is married to James and has two sons.
