Unicorn School

Creative & Performing Arts

As you walk through the Unicorn school you cannot fail to be impressed by our student’s artwork adorning the walls. Students are encouraged to develop their skills in a range of mediums whilst exploring and expanding their creative thinking, knowledge and understanding of art and design.

Students can take art as a GCSE (AQA fine art) during which they work in small groups taking ownership of their artistic journeys with increasing independence.  Experimentation and creative expression form an important part of the course. Many of our students go on to study art as an A level or diploma, where they have received recognition in the way of scholarships, and some continue their journey to study art at University.

All students are encouraged to take part in regular external and internal art competitions.

Unicorn School

Performing Arts is taught at The Unicorn School to give children the chance to explore their creativity and learn confidence in speaking and performing in front of an audience. The children take part in drama games, movement and dance and singing and playing musical instruments. They have regular opportunities to perform including Christmas, Young Voices and the Key Stage 2 summer musical. In Key Stage 3, the children begin to explore the work of Shakespeare through drama and character work.
